STEM VISION FOR THE BR SCHOOL DISTRICT

"We will work to cultivate a shared ethos that all students are capable mathematicians, scientists, engineers, and technicians that bring their own culture, perspectives, and strengths with them that will enrich the learning community. STEM students will hold equal intellectual authority as they engage in important learning opportunities that value STEM processes such as investigating, strategizing, modeling, reasoning, justifying, and revising."

All of our schools are doing amazing things in STEM! This page serves to spotlight the STEMazing experiences of our BR learning community!

STEM, WHAT DOES THIS LOOK LIKE IN CLASSROOMS?

Students should:

  1. Make sense of problems and/or examine phenomenon and build connections/ideas.
  2. Develop a strategy to investigate their problem/phenomenon more deeply.
  3. Create a model to represent their ideas (graph, table, diagram, plan, experiment, equation etc)
  4. Develop a claim that they can defend with evidence and reasoning.
  5. Implement their strategy/plan.
  6. Evaluate the effectiveness and accuracy of their strategy and when applicable revise.
